The International Appalachian Trail Spainish Chapter

The International Appalachian Trail Spain was shown during the last week in the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), that took place in Madrid. This project is based on show the geology of the Appalachain range where it can be found and represents the link between peoples of North America and Europe.

The Appalachain mountains is a range located east of the United States, from Alabama to Canada. This range is characterized by its smoothed reliefs, the predominant rocks are granites, slate and quarzite and its geology is unique because is one of the first collisions between plates in the history of the Earth.

This range inspired the creation of the Appalachian Trail in 1921 and begins in Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin Mountain in Maine. The International Appalachian Trail Spain is a international continuation of the original trail. The first idea about create a international trail was by Richard Anderson in 1981 and, since 1991 until nowadays, it counts with associations in twenty countries all around the world working to complete the trail.
