Segovia sigue siendo modelo

Como recordaréis, entre los años 2018 y 2019, personal del Instituto Geológico y Minero de España (IGME, CSIC) desarrolló en la ciudad de Segovia (a iniciativa de la Concejalía de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de Segovia) con financiación de la Junta de Castilla y León (convocatorias de ayudas de la estrategia de educación ambiental), un ambicioso programa de utilización del patrimonio geológico en la educación ambiental y geoturismo urbanos: los Entornos con Lugares de Interés Geológico para la Educación ambiental en Segovia (ELIGES).

De esa iniciativa surgieron muchos materiales educativos y divulgativos (libros, folletos, página web, cursos…) y también derivaron productos que se difundieron en el ámbito científico-técnico (comunicaciones en congresos y artículos en revistas científicas). Entre estos últimos destaca el trabajo publicado en la prestigiosa revista internacional Geoheritage (Vegas y Díez-Herrero, 2021).

Pues bien, estos resultados no solo han quedado impresos en papel o en Internet, archivados y sin uso, sino más bien al contrario, están sirviendo de referencia, ejemplo y modelo para muchas otras experiencias posteriores en todo el Mundo (Rusia, Albania, Irán…). En concreto, ese artículo de Geoheritage ya ha tenido más de media docena de citas y referencias en otros artículos y libros científicos internacionales, a pesar de que se publicó hace menos de un año (ver listado al final de esta entrada).

Una de las últimas citas que ha tenido el artículo de Geoheritage ha sido para ejemplarizar lo que se puede hacer con el patrimonio geológico en el ámbito urbano para el geoturismo, como modelo para una experiencia que se está llevando a cabo en Irán.

Una vez más, el patrimonio geológico de Segovia y las experiencias de inventario, geoconservación y divulgación del mismo, sirven de modelo o patrón a otros trabajos e iniciativas en el resto del mundo.
